Project Manager

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Project Manager to lead complex automation and equipment-related projects from order acceptance through installation and start-up. This role serves as the primary liaison for customers, suppliers, and internal teams—overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and technical deliverables. The Project Manager ensures that engineering, manufacturing, and field activities align with customer expectations and organizational standards, driving successful execution of custom automation, system assembly, or capital equipment projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review new orders and proposals with engineering, sales, and operations to confirm scope accuracy, commercial terms, and technical feasibility.
- Coordinate and allocate internal resources—including mechanical, electrical, controls, and production teams—to support on-time and on-budget project completion.
- Track and manage project financials, maintaining positive cash flow and reviewing material and labor spend with cross-functional leaders on a weekly basis.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the life of the project, providing timely updates, documentation, and visibility into project progress.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules—ensuring engineering, fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation milestones are met.
- Ensure internal processes, engineering standards, and SOPs are followed across each stage of the project lifecycle.
- Prepare, issue, and maintain all project correspondence, status reports, change orders, and related documentation for both internal and external audiences.
- Oversee risk identification and mitigation activities to address technical, schedule, or budget-related challenges.
- Support internal process improvement initiatives and operational projects aimed at increasing efficiency, throughput, and customer satisfaction.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure accurate, complete deliverables—from design reviews to customer FATs, field install coordination, and handoff.
Deliverables
The Project Manager will be accountable for achieving:
- Strong project outcomes by coordinating efforts across engineering, operations, procurement, and field teams.
- On-time completion of major project milestones and customer deliverables, with accurate reporting to all stakeholders.
- Effective monitoring and control of labor, material, and subcontractor costs in partnership with Operations management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Project Management, Business, or a related technical field; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
- 3–5+ years of project management experience within manufacturing, automation, robotics, industrial equipment, system integration, or custom machinery environments.
- Demonstrated success managing complex technical projects involving multi-disciplinary engineering teams and custom-fabricated or automated systems.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical assemblies, automation workflows, machine build processes, and system commissioning preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word); advanced Excel capabilities—such as pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis—highly valued.
- Experience using project management platforms such as MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Asana, or similar systems.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP environments—experience with JobBOSS, Epicor, or similar systems is advantageous.
- Exceptional communication, meeting facilitation, and customer-management skills with the ability to translate technical details into clear action plans.
- Strong organizational abilities with expertise in schedule tracking, documentation control, and risk mitigation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and mechanical/electrical schematics is a strong plus.
