Project Manager – Process Engineering Focus
Overview:
This is a project-driven role with a company that delivers custom stainless steel systems used in liquid handling environments. Projects are typically turnkey—from initial design through installation and commissioning—and involve direct, ongoing client engagement.
Role Highlights:
- Work closely with clients to support the full project lifecycle: process design, order management, equipment customization, installation, and commissioning
- Focus more on process design engineering rather than traditional mechanical engineering
- Manage an average of 10 projects at a time, with 2–3 in highly active stages; most demanding during design and commissioning phases
- Standard work schedule is 8–5 in-office when not traveling (domestic travel only, fully covered)
- Flexibility in schedule depending on customer needs and project timelines
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with customers on custom process and equipment design, including regular review of P&IDs
- Support daily coordination with clients and internal teams
- Involvement in AutoCAD work, purchasing, logistics, and light R&D
- Coordinate with in-house controls and panel teams
- Wear multiple hats—design support, project oversight, some sales process involvement, and field commissioning
- Experience with 3D modeling is a bonus but not required
- Travel averages 25%, with potential spikes to 50% during peak periods; company vehicle and expense card provided
- Manage project budgets, create and maintain bills of materials, and oversee execution of capital equipment projects
Preferred Background:
- Experience in process systems, particularly those involving liquid handling
- Familiarity with pump and heat exchanger sizing, pipe layout, tank mixers, and related mechanical components
- Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics
- Background in sanitary processing equipment is a plus
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and previous experience supporting system commissioning is highly valued
