Project Manager, Mission Critical — Run the Build That Can't Miss
Reno, NV | Full-Time, Exempt | $120,000 – $150,000
The Opportunity
Mission critical projects demand a different breed of PM: schedule-obsessed, MEP-fluent, and unshakeable under pressure. Our client — one of the Southwest's largest general contractors, 50 years strong with projects exceeding $100M — is hiring a Project Manager to lead a mission critical build in Reno. You'll own the project: budget, schedule, subcontractors, owner relationship, and the team delivering it. Data center work is the fastest-growing sector in construction, and this is a chance to lead it with a GC that has the resources to build it right.
Why You'll Love It
- Full project ownership: P&L, schedule, team, and client relationship — yours to run
- The premier sector: Mission critical leadership experience commands top dollar for the rest of your career
- Backed by strength: In-house self-perform capabilities and 50 years of subcontractor relationships
- Full benefits + Nevada: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, parental leave, PTO — no state income tax
What You'll Do
- Lead overall project execution — budget, schedule, quality, safety, and client satisfaction
- Own project financials: cost reports, forecasts, billings, change management, and margin protection
- Negotiate and manage subcontracts; hold trade partners accountable to scope, schedule, and quality
- Drive the master schedule with superintendents; manage critical path on a build where dates are non-negotiable
- Lead OAC meetings and own the owner relationship day to day
- Oversee MEP coordination and commissioning — the make-or-break of mission critical delivery
- Manage RFI, submittal, and procurement workflows to stay ahead of the field
- Lead, mentor, and develop APMs and Project Engineers on your team
- Drive risk identification and mitigation from preconstruction through turnover and closeout
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent experience
- 5–8+ years of commercial construction project management with a general contractor
- Proven delivery of large, complex projects — mission critical, data center, or MEP-intensive work strongly preferred
- Deep command of contracts, cost control, scheduling (P6/MS Project), and change management
- Commissioning experience and comfort with owner-side technical stakeholders
- Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
- Strong leadership presence with subs, owners, and internal teams
- Comfort working from a job trailer on an active construction site
