    Job Summary

    The Grant Writer will write compelling grant proposals and reports to maintain the current revenue base and develop new sources of support from foundation and corporate partners, United Way, and state and other government agencies to support general operations and program areas. Develop professional, competitive requests/proposals for funding PPL operations and programs according to specifications and timelines of funding sources. Manage grant portfolio to ensure timely submittal and reporting.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop narrative proposals to corporations, foundations, and government entities based on information from program staff, pertinent information from previously written proposals, and data from research on community needs.
    • Review funder specifications and utilize these to assess opportunities, gather information, and write proposals that align with funder priorities.
    • Describe PPL and the proposed program in a manner that competitively markets the organization’s expertise, translating program plans and ideas into compelling proposals.
    • Customize the narrative with an awareness of the goals and interests of the audience who will review proposals.
    • Collaborate with staff to gather information for writing and submission of thorough and accurate reports to funders and provide assistance to program staff to support funding reports.
    • Determine required documentation for proposals and reports and communicate with relevant staff to manage the process for timely assembly of attachments (letters of support, collaborative relationships, and financial information) to meet application/reporting requirements.
    • Review budgets for proposal inclusion to ensure that narrative and budget sections are compatible and align with funder requirements.
    • Coordinate proposal process as required to meet deadlines, including communicating with staff about upcoming opportunities and requirements and establishing timelines for review by program staff, leadership, and subsequent revision.
    • Write and support the production of timely acknowledgment letters to funders for grants received.
    • Monitor the status of requests and communicate with funders as needed.
    • Research and analyze trends both locally and nationally.
    • Contribute to institutional fundraising and portfolio management tracking using Raiser’s Edge database, Microsoft Planner, and other tools.
    • Actively participate as a PPL Development & External Affairs team member.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • College education or equivalent experience preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience preparing requests that resulted in funding preferred.

    Salary: $48,000.00-$56,000.00/Yr., DOQ

    PPL's work is now a Hybrid Model. Our Hybrid Model refers to the split between working in the office or onsite at satellite locations (60%) and at home (40%) of the time. A 5-day work week equates to three days working in the office and the opportunity to work from home for the other two days.
