SUMMARY:
The Projects & Engineering Manager will oversee all major projects and engineering. The majority of the current work will be building new facilities, with the occasional plant remodel or upgrade. There will be a key focus to see the overall picture so we accomplish the lowest overall lifecycle costs, not just upfront project costs. This also needs paired with a high pace in order to meet customer needs. To help with the demands, much of the downtime between projects is focused on improving designs all the way through detailed engineering so we have quick turnaround and the ability to shop our internal designs to many manufacturers.
* THIS IS A REMOTE WORK OPPORTUNITY REQUIRING UP TO 50% DOMESTIC TRAVEL. RELOCATION WILL NOT BE REQUIRED.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage projects with capital budgets ranging from $250k to $15M.
- Direct safety programs for contractors to comply and exceed safety and health regulations by MSHA.
- Facilitate the design of equipment, site works, and electrical works.
- Drive schedule to meet tight project deadlines.
- Review designs and make changes to meet project requirements.
- Write equipment, process, and construction specifications.
- Develop scope and estimates for the project planning phases.
- Recommend and develop design standards for equipment and construction.
- Develop structural and mechanical arrangement drawings and flowsheets.
- Prepare bid packages for steel, piping, equipment, instrumentation, electrical, etc.
- Schedule work to meet project deadlines.
- Track and forecast project costs.
- Oversee construction of plant projects.
- Contract civil, mechanical, and electrical construction work and labor.
- Select vendors and procure equipment and materials.
- Sizing pumps, cyclones, belts, and various other material handling equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of weeks to perform duties as needed.
- 7+ years of project experience in heavy industry or mineral processing.
- 5+ years of management experience in heavy industry or mineral processing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be organized and capable of managing multiple projects
- Proficient with AutoCad and Microsoft Office products.
- PE license is preferred.
- 30 CFR Part 46 training preferred.
- Process design, Electrical design, or Detail Mechanical design background is preferred.
