Job Title: Prompt Engineer
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite)
Rate: $50/hr (W2, 1099, or C2C)
Duration: Long-term Contract
Work Authorization: Open to all work types except OPT and CPT
(U.S. Citizens, GC, H-1B, H4-EAD, GC-EAD, etc. are welcome)
Compensation Snapshot:
$50/hr ≈ $104,000/year
After estimated health insurance (~$600/month), take-home is approx. $96,800/year
Job Overview:
We are hiring a Prompt Engineer to join our AI-driven innovation team at NRG. This role focuses on crafting and optimizing prompts that drive accurate, relevant, and responsible responses from AI models. You’ll play a key role in aligning prompt engineering with business goals and delivering cutting-edge solutions.
️ Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and refine prompts for AI models to ensure high-quality, context-aware output
Analyze prompt performance, execute test cases, and continuously iterate
Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to align AI efforts with strategic objectives
Document methodologies, best practices, and test outcomes
Promote ethical and responsible AI by addressing bias and fairness
Incorporate user/stakeholder feedback for ongoing improvements
✅ Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence
1+ year of relevant experience
Proficiency in Java, C/C++, C#, or other programming languages
Strong understanding of AI and machine learning concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with OpenAI, LangChain, or similar platforms
Familiarity with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
Knowledge of RAG, multi-agent systems, embeddings
Experience with testing frameworks and performance tuning
Strong grasp of data structures and prompt optimization techniques
Working Conditions:
Hybrid work model: 3 days onsite at our Houston office
