    Job Description

    DATA OPERATIONS ANALYST

    Growing company looking for a data analyst. Prop Store is the industry leader in bringing authentic film and television props and costumes to the collectibles market. Our company produces and launches a number of auctions throughout each year. It is the IT team’s responsibility to ensure that basic technology needs of the company are met so that employees are equipped to perform their jobs efficiently.

    To keep the company on schedule with each auction, we are searching for a candidate who will be highly professional, organized, detailed and analytic. Whilst this is where you will start with us, where you will end up is totally up to you – most of our leadership team has been with the company for less than 10 years.

    The data analyst is responsible for meeting the company’s everyday data requirements, including data migrations across our multiple platforms, importing and exporting datasets to assist staff workflows, performing data quality checks, mining for custom datasets and developing and maintaining key reports to support company operations and inform strategy.

    We are looking for a candidate who can work closely with the Vice President of IT and Development and take ownership over the daily data analytics needs of the company. We are looking for a highly organized and process-driven individual, who can simultaneously manage and produce a series of regular metric reports, while keeping up with the ever-shifting operations demand for data analysis.  

    WORK SETTING

    This position will report to an office in Columbia, MD, where they will work directly with the VP of IT & Development. The business has offices in Los Angeles and London, and the data operations analyst will overlap and support operations in both offices. The position will work in-office, five days a week.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    ·       Deep understanding of our database structure & data collection systems

    ·       Mine relevant data from our database and other repositories in an accurate and reliable manner

    ·       Use this data to develop, improve and maintain a series of key reports including but not limited to:

    o   Staff KPIs   

    o   Project statuses and scheduling

    o   Sales performance & financials

    o   Customer & client management

    o   Marketing

    o   Competitor analysis

    ·       Provide reports on a regular schedule

    ·       Create user guides that inform relevant staff how to use their reports

    ·       Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in data sets and articulate this to company directors

    ·       Locate and define new process improvement opportunities based on the reporting and your broad understanding of company operations

    ·       Manipulate existing data to meet specific objectives

    ·       Perform data migrations to accurately synchronize data from different parts of the workflow to their intended destination

    ·       Perform data quality checks to ensure the integrity of both staff deliverables as well as key reporting

    ·       Respond to a broad range of ad hoc data requests

    SKILLS

    ·       Working experience as a data analyst

    ·       Understanding of relational database structure

    ·       Ability to translate non-technical requests for data into relevant, meaningful datasets

    ·       Adept at queries, Fluency in MySql

    ·       Advanced in excel/Google Sheets as a reporting tool – ability to design reporting templates that can be refreshed with new data in a regular fashion

    ·       Ability to analyze and interpret these reports, translating them to key, action or discussion points for company directors

    ·       Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

    ·       Familiarity with data migration techniques ranging from csv imports to api integrations

    ·       Critical thinking and problem solving

    ·       Strong communications skills in order to effectively convey analysis to other team members

     

    KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIS)

     

    ·        Development of full reporting suite

    ·        Regular dissemination of reports

    ·        Relevance of data provided in response to a given request

    ·        Quality of insight garnered from the reporting and analysis

    ·        Accuracy of data across the operation

    ·        Development of new ideas to improve data management and analysis

    ·        Development of new ideas to improve staff workflows or company strategy

    ·        Timely delivery of time-sensitive data requests

     

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    The pay scale for this position is $20-25/hr and also includes bi-annual bonuses based on employee and company performance.
