    Position Description:

    The Shift Supervisor – Pool (known as the Deck Supervisor) is the leader of the Swim Instructor team on their shift. Deck Supervisors work closely with other Deck Supervisors to ensure that as a team we are providing a safe pool environment that encourages children to learn and that we offer clear expectations and information to our customers. Deck Supervisors must thrive in a fast-paced, problem-solving work environment to be able to meet the needs of our swimmers, their parents, and our instructors.

    During the shift, the Deck Supervisor serves as the liaison between the Swim Instructors and the parents of our swimmers. The role of the Deck Supervisor requires not only knowledge of our swim curriculum and a keen eye for pool safety, but also the ability to communicate with and educate our customers about learning to swim and to provide memorable customer service to a range of parent personalities.

    The Deck Supervisor plays a key role in creating a lasting relationship between our company and the various families that we serve. To the parents and children who swim during their shift, the Deck Supervisor is the face of our company! The Deck Supervisor sets the tone for providing families with a safe, fun environment to learn to swim before they even enter the water!

    Responsibilities:

    Maintaining a safe pool environment for all patrons.

    Building relationships with the families on their shift.

    Educating customers about swimming and about our philosophy and curriculum.

    Tracking swimmers’ skills as they move through each class level.

    Delivering quarterly or requested Progress Updates to parents about their child’s progress.

    Mentoring Swim Instructors to become more effective in their teaching.

    Coordinating a team of instructors in case of emergency.

    Making sure every child who enters the pool area makes it safely to and from their swim class.

    Attending weekly Deck Supervisor Meetings with the management team.

    Deck Supervisors must complete our Swim Instructor Training to familiarize themselves with our curriculum.

    Deck Supervisors must maintain 1-4 regular weekly Swim Instructor shifts in addition to their Supervising shifts.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    2 years experience as a swim instructor or swim coach

    18 years old

    High School Diploma

    Preferred:

    Swim school/team management experience

    Customer service experience

    Certified Pool Operator License

    CPR/First Aid Certification

    Lifeguard Certification
