    Senior Property Accountant

    Location: Midtown Manhattan, NY 

    Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join a growing real estate firm in Midtown Manhattan. This role will be responsible for full-cycle accounting for a commercial and/or residential property portfolio and will work closely with asset management, property management, and leadership. Strong Yardi experience and a public accounting/audit background are required.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage full-cycle property accounting for assigned portfolio

    • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

    • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations

    • Handle CAM reconciliations, tenant billings, and variance analysis

    • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries

    • Oversee property-level accounts payable and receivable

    • Assist with annual budgets and forecasts

    • Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audits

    • Liaise with external auditors and respond to audit requests

    • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting controls

    • Train and mentor junior accounting staff as needed

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

    • 5+ years of accounting experience with a combination of public accounting and property accounting

    • Strong audit experience, including financial statement preparation and review

    • Hands-on Yardi experience (required)

    • Solid understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles

    • Advanced Excel skills

    • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • CPA or CPA-track

    • Big 4 or top-tier public accounting firm experience

    • Experience with commercial, residential, or mixed-use real estate portfolios

    • Prior NYC real estate industry experience
