Business Development Consultant (Part-Time 1099)
Job Description
DESCRIPTION:
• The Strategic Growth Consultant is responsible for prospecting, acquisition, development, and expansion of opportunities within the DoD / Federal sector, specifically at DISA and the USMC
• He/she will be expected to identify emerging requirements, perform market and economic analysis, conduct business intelligence, design and execute formal capture plans, and monitor competitor activity for each capture
• Candidates will develop the overall strategy, as well as external partnerships, business plans, and associated marketing assigned with the opportunity
• The ideal candidate will have previously served in a management role within the DoD/Federal sector before transitioning to the Sales/BD field
• This individual is expected to leverage existing customer relationships and personal experience to identify and assess potential business opportunities
DUTIES:
• NEW BUSINESS PIPELINE GROWTH AND MANAGEMENT:
o Develop new opportunities for growth and track known opportunities
o Leverage networking, industry days, SAM.gov, and customer meetings to create a qualified pipeline of new business opportunities
• CAPTURE MANAGEMENT:
o Continuously collect information relevant to each opportunity, including competitor intel, pricing intel, customer hot buttons and preferences
o Evaluate potential teammates and negotiate favorable teaming arrangements
• RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
o Develop and maintain relevant relationships on behalf of the company with customers, trusted industry partners and internal stakeholders
• INTERNAL BD PROCESS MANAGEMENT:
o Collaborate to develop objectives and priorities
o Support overall planning and linking pursuits/capture activities that support metrics for awards, submits, and pipeline
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Intimate organizational and mission knowledge of DoD/Federal Government organizations, specifically DISA/USMC, to include goals, priorities and challenges
• Results-oriented professional with 7+ years performing DoD/Federal Government BD
• A proven track record of successful BD/capture across multiple DoD/Federal Government organizations and program offices at a variety of acquisition sizes
• Demonstrated success in Services BD (Financial Management, Cybersecurity)
• Skills to develop, organize and execute capture activities, including building teams, assessing win probability, and executing customer call plans to shape acquisitions
• Understanding of the DoD/Federal Government budget and acquisition processes
• Active in Professional Organizations, Industry Committees and Working Groups
• An active DoD Secret or higher clearance.
