    Summary:

    Our client is an industry leader within the chemical and petro chemical refining industry. We are currently seeking an individual for the key role of Controls & Instrumentation Engineer. As they Controls and Instrumentation Engineer you will be tasked with instrumentation and electrical engineering support to the processing facility. Much of your focus will be centered on design, installation and repair of electrical equipment and instrumentation and control valves for process flow. Your key to success in addition to bringing exceptional technical skills will be dependent upon your ability to collaborate with facility associates and management team.

    Responsibilities:

    • Supports day to day safe and reliable operations by assisting technicians and staff with advanced troubleshooting and resolving instrument & electrical technical issues. Develop innovative solutions utilizing proven advancements in technology.
    • Identify the unit’s bad actors based on production loss and failure frequency. Drive the organization to find true root cause and effective mitigations to systematically eliminate bad actors.
    • Provide support as a facilitator for problem analysis, risk assessment & root cause analysis for equipment failures.
    • Works with I&E technicians, Maintenance & Operations to identify and implement improvements to the long-term equipment operability, reliability, energy efficiency, and maintenance expense. This includes identification and scoping of capital and expense projects.
    • Provide guidance on life cycle cost and alternative selection for maintenance or capital projects with options or multiple solutions.
    • Provide early input on project maintainability and reliability considerations to ensure major scope is not missed during project development.
    • Steward, audit, and improve I/E PM programs to ensure the health and effectiveness of the systems.
    • Develop and review existing I&E maintenance procedures to ensure technical and field task knowledge is documented, accurate and applicable.
    • Interact with purchasing on critical equipment repairs and non-stock part procurement. Evaluate current stocking levels and reorder points. Ensure spare parts are properly specified in SAP and INTools, stocked at proper levels and ordered.
    • Provide risk-based prioritization support for T&I (turnaround) work scope development.

    Requires Skills and Experience:

    • BS Electrical Engineering and 5 years I&E Maintenance or Reliability experience required.
    • Must have or be able to obtain TWIC cards.
    • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
    • Knowledge of control systems including control valves, transmitters, pneumatic and electronic instrumentation, PLC/DCS, etc.
    • Basic understanding of engineering, purchasing, accounting and construction practices and maintenance workflows.
    • Strong communication and documentation skills.
    • Knowledge of risk-based work prioritization methodology.
    • Knowledge of economic evaluation methods (Life-Cycle Cost Analysis, NPV, Benefit/Cost).
    • Knowledge in Reliability Centered Maintenance or some form of Asset Management Plan Development is desired.
