    Summary:

    We are looking for a strong Payroll Specialist with a Defense and/or Government background for an award winning, Tier 1 organization.

    This role is on the Disbursement team, part of a 50 person Finance department, includes Payroll, Accounts Payable and Travel and supports employees, and vendors by efficiently processing payments timely and accurately.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Processes weekly payroll activities for approximately 1,900 employees

    • Partners with Human Resources, Benefits, Compensation, and General Accounting to ensure a timely and accurate payroll submission

    • Responding timely to internal and external customer inquiries sent to the payroll team related to Time and Labor, Verification of employment, W2 information, ADP, etc.

    • Managing and Processing daily information in preparation for bi-weekly payroll processing

    • Work with Third Party Payroll provider (ADP)

    • Ad hoc reporting as needed (Time reporting, Benefits, State filings, etc)

    • Support audit requests as needed (Internal/External)

    • Support any required action related to local, state, and federal tax changes and IRS demands

    • Responsible for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly payroll reconciliation.

    • Support year-end W-2 review and processing

    • Support the Accounts Payable, Travel or Payroll staff as needed.

    • Assist Disbursement Manager with other ad hoc activities as assigned.

    • Support internal initiatives as needed

    • Attend/Participate in Internal/External meetings as needed

     

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • Associates degree or higher preferred

    • Minimum of 3 years full-cycle payroll experience

    • Government and/or Defense industry experience, or similar types of organizations required

    • Applied systems exposure to and proficiency in: PeopleSoft, ADP Workforce Now, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Skype for Business, WebEx and/or relatable systems

    • The ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines

    • Effectively communicate concerns and issues to internal and external customers

    • Must be detail minded and organized, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills

    • Attention to detail oriented

    • Exceptional customer service skills, and ability to work across the organization

    • The successful candidate will thrive in a team-based environment and will share in the commitment of the organization’s goals

    • Understanding of Security Clearances and Confidential information requirements
