Summary:
Our award-winning client is a transportation company with multiple locations on the Southeastern seaboard of the United States; inland container moves are our specialty. Our client is a one-stop shop to handle any import or export shipments across the Southeast. We strive to ask the right questions concerning clients’ business requirements, and we tailor transportation solutions to meet those needs. Our proactive approach will add value to your bottom-line. In addition to our assets, we also consist of agent carriers and a brokerage division to support our clients.
Responsibilities:
Assist and eventually lead a month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Perform financial statement analysis and explanation of variances.
Complete and manage account reconciliations.
Own and maintain supplemental schedules such as capital leases, depreciation, etc.
Calculate and maintain weekly agent commissions payout schedules.
Daily cash management/funding requests for banks.
Collaborate with AP specialists to review vendor payments that are in line with the cash plan.
Participate in monthly department reviews.
Work closely with external auditors; facilitate preparation of audit requests.
Provide ad hoc reporting for board meetings, client reviews, etc.
Aid in the development of internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash management, and accounting.
Analyze fleet utilization, build out reporting and call out opportunities for optimization.
Analyze revenue trends and collectability to build future forecasts and customer profit analysis.
Analyze driver pay to ensure accurate payout and enhance driver pay process.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
3-5 years of accounting and/or analysis experience.
Public accounting experience is preferred, but not necessary.
CPA / CPA candidate is nice, but not necessary.
Manufacturing or for-profit experience preferred. Transportation experience is a bonus.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
