    Summary:

    The Director of Operations will have full P&L responsibility for the multi-site operations. The Director of Operations will oversee, manage, and coordinate all strategic and day-to-day organizational activities to include (but not limited to) safety, sales, manufacturing, engineering, quality, finance, and human resources. This position is responsible for creating the yearly budget and delivering improved plant results quarter over quarter.

    Responsibilities:

    • Successful negotiation strategies to ensure proper product pricing, profitability and ability to meet customer requirements for the Division and the Corporation
    • Responsible for budgeting oversight of all facilities operations for the manufacture and shipment of quality products, to established customer schedules.
    • Directs activities of all departments within the operation in accordance with Company policy and objectives.
    • Responsible for business strategic growth rate.Assess present and future needs, trends, problems, effectiveness, and profit opportunities for all operations within the business organization.
    • Formulates and reviews operation policies and objectives or modifications in existing policies. Ensures approved policies and objectives are clearly communicated and effectively implemented.
    • Review of operating plans, programs, capital and expense budgets submitted by plant operations.
    • Establishes a budget of operations and ensures budgeted goals are achieved and cost objectives are met in all areas of the business organization.
    • Reviews and evaluates the results of the activities of the Plant as it relates to the company organization. Takes or ensures appropriate action as necessary. Coordinates efforts of all Managers and develops a cohesive staff management team.Develops the organization through managerial development and planning to prepare for future business requirements.
    • Responsible for safety and health of workers and compliance with associated laws governing employment and the organization.
    • Maintains proactive relationships with customers, prospective customers and vendors.
    • Promotes satisfactory relations with industry and community.
    • Support the success of the operation by setting an example of cooperation, communication, exchange of technical data, business information and resources as required to promote the success of the Division and Corporation as a whole.

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • 10 or more years in successive leadership roles in a heavy manufacturing environment in related industry. An MBA is desirable as well as a thorough working knowledge of manufacturing finance.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of structured problem solving and related tools, ISO expectations, basic statistical methods, and other industry-standard skills including Kanban and TOC
    • Demonstrated capability of lean manufacturing techniques
    • Technical competence: Uses facts related to the position, including technical, financial, market- and product-related
    • Sound cross functional knowledge and ability to operate with all functions/departments
    • Decision making: Manages the division's resources, makes appropriate decisions to attain objectives, anticipates the need for change, and solves problems.
    • Interpersonal skills: Written and oral communications.
    • Strong skills in using computer software: Excel, Word, and other pertinent software as needed.
    • Managerial Courage – does not hold back, willing to push the organization beyond its current state.
