Summary:

Our award winning client is looking for a Senior Buyer to report to the Materials Manager who is a strong manager and mentor. This role has room to grow in supply chain, operations or sales/marketing. Tuition assistance for MBA.

Responsibilities:

The position is responsible for the timely planning, scheduling and receipt of material/inventory control of the products as assigned consistent with MAPICS/XA (ERP system) requirements or as needed to support business objectives. The position is expected to establish, monitor and maintain performance levels with vendors in alignment with key business targets (on-time delivery, quality, lead time and cost reductions).

• Utilizes ERP system to plan, allocate and issue materials to production in support of customer requirements. Coordinates the movement of materials from vendors and/ or between departments, ensuring all vendor supplied material is available and shipped on time to meet dock date requirements.
• Re-schedules demand as needed to support changing requirements (AOG’s, cancellations, etc.) and maintains inventory controls for the assigned products and services, consistent with ERP system and business plan requirements.
• Coordinates with planning on supplier delays; Monitors and resolves delivery and quality issues with suppliers as needed. Visits suppliers' facilities to qualify them as new sources and assists in the resolution of production, design, quality, and/or delivery problems.
• Manages customer expedites and AOG requirements, quoting lead times and providing shipping commitments as appropriate.
• Coordinates quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers, as required.
• Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics and inventory control and management. On occasion negotiates prices, lead times, and delivery terms with guidance from a Senior Buyer or Materials Manager.
• Creates and maintains production, scheduling and forecasting/delivery reports for all assigned materials. Candidate is expected to attend production meetings and status the team on vendor delivery/performance concerns.
  

Required Skills and Experience:

• Aerospace or Airplane experience highly preferred
• 4+ years of experience as a Buyer (Sourcing and Purchasing in a progressive Supply Chain)
• Strong Excel skills are required
• Experience purchasing complete parts per print like castings, bodies, housing, valves, poppets, pistons
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP system (Oracle preferred
• Lean Six Sigma experience, certified Green Belt preferred
