Summary:
Reporting to the President, the Director of Operations will be responsible for manufacturing operations, supply chain, manufacturing engineering, EH&S, material control, assembly/test, procurement, production control, and shipping and receiving.
Peers include individuals responsible for Sales and Marketing, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, and Quality Control. As a key member of the leadership team, the Director of Operations will participate regularly in evaluating and establishing division direction.
The Director will have significant interaction with existing customers and will play a key role in meeting with potential customers to determine needs and discuss capabilities. The aerospace component business is very dynamic, with changes in design, schedule, and expectations. In response, the Director of Operations role requires the ability to maintain flexibility, develop fluid plans, and understand the need to change priorities.
Responsibilities:
Building and leading a dynamic operations organization and setting the pace and example as a leader, coach, and mentor to reporting contributors
Promoting an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation with peers and their respective functional groups
Implementing open communication, concurrent manufacturing, and continuous improvement
Working closely with engineering, sales, and customers to ensure they can provide innovative, cost-effective, producible solutions and drive new business
Improving standards and processes in all phases of the operations cycle
Developing and implementing effective inventory management approaches to optimize cost and availability considerations
Ensuring technical support of all production processes with accurate tools, equipment, and documentation
Preparing annual budgets and tracking actual expenditures
Assuring on-time deliveries of quality products to customers
Required Skills and Experience:
We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven, experienced Operations leader with a solid track record.
5+ years of manufacturing Operations experience leading a large team
Experience with Aerospace / Airplanes
Strong budgetary and P&L responsibility (e.g. Business Unit Manager or Plant Manager)
Strong skills with managing and Developing People
Must be hands on leader from a metric driven environment
Experience in a high volume/low mix made to order manufacturing facility
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering required. Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering preferred
Ability to balance long term manufacturing strategy and day-to-day execution
