    Summary

    We are seeking a Logistics Director with a background in Industrial Manufacturing for an award winning organization.

     

    Directing activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking of transportation vehicles, aircraft, or railroad cars. Planning, organizing, and managing subordinate staff members to ensure work is completed and consistent with the company standards. Directing investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints. Collaborating with staff members to formulate and implement transportation-related procedures as well as company revenue goals and customer service objectives. Arranging repairs and routine maintenance of transportation vehicles. Complying with transportation-related policies, as well as safety rules, union contracts, and government regulations. Promoting safe work activities by conducting safety audits, and attending company safety meetings.

     

    Responsibilities: 

    Responsible for managing a Multimillion $ freight budget which includes LTL operations, import/export operations, DOT compliance and company fleet operations across 27 North American locations. Plans freight budgets by location, carrier claims, as well as asset purchasing. Oversees and directs 50 fleet trucks and CDL drivers, as well as 90 leased utility vehicles.

     

    • Negotiates annual LTL rates with a projected year over year (volume equivalent) savings.
    • Develop the company-wide DOT Compliance program including updated ELD installations, electronic DQ files and web-based system integration
    • Increase carrier claims resolution and settlements
    • Partners with Purchasing to streamline importation of raw materials, reducing freight costs and ensures seamless Customs clearance and ISF filing

     

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • 3+ years of experience as a Logistics or Transportation Director or Senior Manager (or similar people management capacity)
    • 10+ years of experience in the Industrial Manufacturing industry
    • Strong experience with Logistics, CMARs and Claims, Leased Vehicle Management, Import/Export, Transportation, LTL, and DOT Compliance.
    • Solid knowledge of the transportation industry and logistics.
    • Bachelor's degree in logistics, business management, engineering, or related field.
    • Experience working with union contracts and transportation-related government regulations.
    • Critical thinking skills and knowledge of analytics.
    • Experience working with transport management systems and warehouse management software, such as FreightPath and Infoplus.
    • Ability to work well with team members and navigate stressful situations.
    • Excellent leadership skills.

     

    LTL relations management:

    • Daily trailer capacities at consumer locations/interactions with plants
    • Daily interactions with LTL carriers
    • Weekly invoice resolution
    • Weekly customer service issues
    • Annual RFP
    • Annual rate table updating

     

    Logistics CMARs and Claims:

    • Daily CMAR review and resolution (12 to 20 per day enter my queue)
    • Weekly internal customer service issues (Customer Care and Compliance)

     

    Leased Vehicle Management:

    • Weekly oversight and transfer of vehicles as needed
    • 4x monthly invoices – Mike Albert, WEX, Enterprise, WEX Enterprise
    • Weekly internal customer service issues
    • Weekly oversight of fuel cards, maintenance approvals, and accident resolution

     

    Import/Export:

    • Weekly documentation/Customs assistance
    • Weekly invoice resolutions
    • Weekly internal customer service issues

     

    DOT Compliance:

    • Weekly oversight and/or training
    • Weekly DQ file updating
    • Monthly Drug and Alcohol testing
    • Monthly ELD updating/corrections
    • Quarterly internal audits
    • Annual D&A standards / Clearinghouse queries
