    Summary:

    Our award-winning client is looking for an Automation Specialist to work in Regina, SK

    This position is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, database management and systems support for the Human Machine Interface (HMI), Programmable Logic Control (PLC) system including logic development, planning, layout, and communication protocols.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develops, documents, tests, and commissions production repairs and major projects related to facility control systems.

    • Ensures all company standards relating to automation development and support are followed.

    • Monitors and maintains real-time, historical and support databases to company standards.

    • Analyzes new developments in control system hardware/software, and provides recommendations to enhance the efficiency of facility operations.

    • Collaborates with a support team to provide troubleshooting guidance to Operations, Maintenance and Automation personnel.

    • Conducts preventive maintenance on automation software and hardware in all Operations facilities.

    • Liaises with maintenance staff and contractors in the installation, commissioning and quality control of automation systems.

    • Plans daily, weekly and monthly tasks to meet project schedules and estimated budgets.

    • Supports proactive health, safety, environmental and security programs and communicates safety procedures to Country Operations staff, contractors and other site personnel.

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • 5+ years of experience as an Automation Specialist (or in a similar role) in an Industrial Agriculture environment

    • Minimum of four (4) years progressively responsible experience in an industrial environment with three (3) years’ experience in HMI, PLC systems design and/or software development. Certified Applied Science Technologist in a related discipline or Journeyed certificate in Electrical or Instrumentation.

    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.

    • Demonstrated experience in both low and high-end automation development methods is required.

    • Valid Class 5 vehicle operator’s license.

    • Extensive travel is required.

    • Control System Application Development

    • Possess a strong understanding in general equipment

    • Possess a strong understanding of electrical components and control system components

    • Education such as, but not limited to Control Systems Technology, Electronic Systems Technology

    • Be capable of understanding operational needs and how they are complemented by control system applications

    • Has provided control system operation narratives

    • Received formal training in Schneider Control Expert (formally Unity Pro)

    • Formal accreditation in mentioned software

    • Received formal training in Aveva Application Server (formally Wonderware System Platform Application Server)

    • Formal accreditation in mentioned software

    • Successfully developed or assembled applications based in Schneider Control Expert
