Psychiatric / Mental Health / Family Practice Nurse
The Outpatient Psychiatric Nurse provides clinical and administration support for behavioral health
services integrated within the primary care setting. This position works under the direct clinical supervision of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and assists with patient intake, behavioral health assessments, medication administration, care coordination, and operational workflow. Obtain psychiatric history, medication history, presenting concerns, safety concerns, and relevant medical information. The nurse will assess immediate safety risks including suicidality, self-harm behaviors, or acute psychiatric instability and promptly report concerns to the PMHNP.
The nurse plays a vital role in ensuring continuity of care, timely patient communication, efficient clinic operations, and safe management of patients receiving psychiatric services. This position supports the behavioral health program by facilitating patient access to care, assisting with medication management processes, coordinating insurance requirements, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
The Medical Surgical Clinic Nurse administers nursing care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed provider (Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant). They will assess the health status of assigned patients and collaborate with the Provider to establish a basis for patient care. Contributes to the planning of nursing interventions, administers medication may perform specific I. V. therapy, documents and communicates changes in patient condition to other members of the health care team.
Nurses will provide information regarding disease processes and diagnostic procedures. Assists in scheduling referrals, appointments, and consultations. Promotes consistent customer centered services. Respects the patient’s right to privacy. The nurse will follow hospital and clinic policy and procedures. Additional job duties or functions may be requested per administration to assist in other areas of the clinic within your capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, and primary care nursing. Knowledge of psychiatric medications and behavioral health assessment principles.
LPN: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; active LPN license
RN: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; active RN license
