    About Our Practice

    Greater Lowell Psychiatric Associates, LLC is a group private practice located in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts. We have served as a community resource to the Merrimack Valley since 1978. Our practice offers a comprehensive range of innovative, holistic, and evidence-based mental health services including individual, couples, family, and group therapy, assessments, psychopharmacology, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and pharmacogenomic testing.

    Providers at GLPA enjoy the independence and flexibility of private practice along with the comradery, access to clinical consultation, and shared billing and EHR services of a group.

    Qualifications

    Education: Master’s degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist. Must have successfully completed an accredited nurse practitioner program, with specialization in psychiatry.

    Experience: 2-5 years of experience working in a mental health; or equivalent combination of education and experience

    Licenses/Certifications:

    ANCC Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) or Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (PMHCNS-BC)

    License to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an APRN with prescribing authority

    Valid and unrestricted Massachusetts Controlled Substance and DEA certification or eligibility

    For newly licensed clinicians, GLPA provides individual and peer supervision, mentorship, and referrals to help new providers build a caseload and learn, grow, and succeed

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Perform comprehensive psychiatric examination of patients

    Diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic psychiatric illnesses

    Analyze and interpret patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans

    Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medication

    Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities as necessary

    Perform prior authorizations for prescribed medications as necessary

    Recommend diagnostic or therapeutic interventions.

    Attend and participate in weekly multidisciplinary treatment team meetings

    Educate patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses

    Order, perform, and/or interpret the results of diagnostic tests

    Document and maintain complete and detailed medical records in the EHR

    Detect and respond to adverse drug reactions

    Keep abreast of developments in nursing

    Provide direct counseling as indicated

    Maintain current knowledge of state legal regulations for nurse practitioner practice.

    Provide in-service education to staff as requested
