Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

The Position: The role of the PMHNP is to assess, diagnose and treat the mental health needs of patients. Many PMHNPs provide therapy and prescribe medications for patients who have mental health disorders or substance abuse problems. Our client is offering the following compensation and benefits:
- $130,000 - $135,000+ Depending on Experience

Requirements:
- Board Certified in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP)
- Active Florida License
- ANCC Certification required within 6 months of employment.
Responsibilities:
- Monday - Friday (8am - 5pm)
- Candidate will be working with client FACT program & Adult Outpatient Services.
- The FACT program is a clinical team, which assumes responsibility for directly providing needed treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to persons with severe and persistent mental illness promoting recovery, empowerment, self-determination, and decision-making.
- Utilize treatment strategies which include: assessing each individual’s behaviors and symptoms of mental illness and prescribing medication in response to the symptoms; regularly reviewing and documenting the individual’s symptoms of mental illness, as well as his or her response to the prescribed medication treatment; educating the individual on the symptoms of his/her illness and the effects and side effects of the medication prescribed to regulate it; assisting the individual to identify the symptoms and occurrence patterns and to develop internal, behavioral, or adaptive methods to help lessen their effects; monitoring, treating, and documenting any medication side effects; developing and maintaining a positive, therapeutic relationship with the individuals served; using new atypical medications with greater effectiveness and a better side effect profile; and simplifying the medication regimen.
