Location: South Florida (Fully Remote)
Schedule: 6–10 hours per week | Tuesdays & Thursdays, 2:00 PM–5:00 PM (with flexibility to extend)

About Us
Adolescent Wellness Academy (AWA) is a specialized mental health treatment center serving adolescents and their families through Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our clinical team and provide high-quality virtual psychiatric care for teens.
Position Summary
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will provide virtual psychiatric care to adolescent clients aged 13–17. This includes conducting Initial Psychiatric Evaluations (IPEs) within 72 hours of admission, prescribing medications as clinically appropriate, and educating families on diagnoses and treatment plans.
This role works independently with minimal supervision from the Medical Director and includes weekly collaboration with the clinical team during a designated team meeting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Initial Psychiatric Evaluations (IPEs) virtually for all new adolescent clients within 72 hours of program admission.
- Provide ongoing medication management and psychiatric follow-up via telehealth.
- Prior to prescribing any medication, contact families directly to:
- Review diagnosis
- Explain purpose of the medication
- Discuss potential side effects
- Obtain verbal consent
- Participate in weekly interdisciplinary clinical meetings with therapists and leadership.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director and clinical leadership as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR system.
- Provide psychiatric education and guidance to families in a clear, supportive manner.
Qualifications
- Licensed to practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the state of Florida (required).
- Minimum 2 years post-licensure experience as a PMHNP (required).
- Demonstrated experience working with adolescents in a psychiatric setting, including prescribing medications (required).
- Strong skills in family communication and psychoeducation.
- Must be comfortable working independently and making clinical decisions with limited supervision.
- Availability to work Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2–5 PM , with occasional flexibility to extend.
- Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Passion for adolescent mental health and a commitment to harm prevention and family support.
Additional Information
- This role will be assigned to one of multiple sites, with the expectation of occasional coverage coordination with a counterpart NPs at other locations during absences or time off.
- All care is provided remotely via telehealth.
