Position Summary
Paving the Way Multi-Service Institute (PTWMSI) is seeking a licensed Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide high-quality psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management services to children, adolescents, and adults within our behavioral health programs.
This is a hybrid position. While some services may be provided via telehealth, the Psychiatrist must be available and willing to provide regular in-person care between 1-2 days to support clinical quality, patient engagement, and team collaboration.
The Psychiatrist will serve as a key member of the multidisciplinary team and will report directly to the Medical Director. This role requires a commitment of 12 -15 hours per week, including direct clinical care and participation in team-based activities such as multidisciplinary meetings and case consultation.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
Provide ongoing medication management and follow-up care
Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clinical staff
Monitor patient progress, treatment response, and medication adherence
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
Team Collaboration & Care Coordination
Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case consultations
Collaborate with therapists, case managers, care coordinators, and supervisors to ensure continuity of care
Provide clinical guidance and consultation to staff as appropriate
Support integrated, trauma-informed, and person-centered care approaches
Compliance & Quality
Adhere to all applicable standards, including DBH regulations, The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements, and organizational policies
Ensure documentation meets medical necessity and billing standards
Participate in quality assurance, peer review, and performance improvement initiatives as required
Schedule & Expectations
Minimum 12 hours per week
Approximately 8–9 hours dedicated to direct patient care
Remaining time allocated to:
Multidisciplinary team meetings
Case consultation and care coordination
Hybrid role with required in-person availability
Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Medical Director
Works collaboratively with program leadership and multidisciplinary clinical teams
Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the District of Columbia
Valid DEA registration
Strong clinical, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with children and adolescents
Experience in community-based behavioral health or outpatient settings
Familiarity with DBH regulations and/or TJC standards
Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
Work Environment
