The Public Area/Lobby/Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall presentation of a hotel’s common areas, including lobbies, restrooms, hallways, elevators, and fitness centers, to create a welcoming environment for guests. Key duties include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, disinfecting high-touch surfaces, and restocking supplies such as towels and toiletries. This role may also involve light maintenance tasks, waste removal, reporting issues, assisting with event setups, and responding to guest requests. In addition, this position may require cleaning guest rooms as needed. Candidates must demonstrate physical stamina, strong attention to detail, and a professional, guest-focused attitude. A flexible schedule is required based on business needs, with typical shifts scheduled between 3:00 PM and 11:00 PM. Responsibilities: While specific tasks vary by hotel size and property type, a Public Area Attendant’s day-to-day usually includes: Cleaning & Maintenance • Common Areas: Regularly vacuuming carpets, sweeping/mopping hard floors, and dusting furniture, fixtures, and baseboards in lobbies, hallways, and elevators. • Restroom Sanitation: Disinfecting toilets, sinks, mirrors, and countertops; replenishing toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels. • Waste Management: Emptying trash bins, ashtrays, and urns throughout the property and transporting them to designated disposal areas. • Specialized Areas: Maintaining cleanliness in gyms (wiping down equipment), pool areas (straightening chairs, checking water standards), and business centers. • Polishing: Cleaning glass doors, windows, and polishing metal or brass fixtures to keep the property looking "polished". Guest & Operational Support • Guest Interaction: Greeting guests, providing directions, or answering basic questions about hotel facilities. • Maintenance Reporting: Identifying and reporting safety hazards or broken fixtures (e.g., lightbulbs, plumbing issues) to the maintenance department. • Event Support: Assisting with setting up or cleaning after meetings, conferences, and event functions. • Inventory: Monitoring and restocking of cleaning supplies and guest amenities.
