    Sechler Law Firm, LLC, an established elder law firm committed to protecting the rights and assets of older adults, is seeking a Medicaid Benefits Coordinator to support our legal team and clients through the Medicaid application and eligibility process. This role focuses specifically on Medicaid Long-Term Care (LTC) and home and community-based services (HCBS), helping seniors and their families navigate the complexities of the Medicaid system. This is a client-facing role requiring compassion, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple Medicaid applications at various stages. Occasional evening work and local travel to nursing facilities and agencies are required. Responsibilities: • Guide clients and their families through the Medicaid eligibility process, including gathering financial records, verifying assets and income, and identifying spend-down or planning needs. • Complete, submit, and track Medicaid applications for institutional (nursing home) and Medicaid programs. • Coordinate with attorneys on Medicaid planning strategies, including asset protection trusts, spousal refusal, penalty period calculations, and Medicaid-compliant annuities. • Liaise with local Departments of Social Services (DSS), Managed Long-Term Care (MLTC) plans, and other relevant agencies to ensure timely and accurate application processing. • Maintain detailed records of client cases in the firm’s case management system, ensuring all deadlines are met and documentation is complete. • Communicate professionally and empathetically with clients, caregivers, social workers, and facility staff throughout the application process. • Provide clients with ongoing guidance about post-eligibility requirements, annual recertifications, and changes in Medicaid rules. • Travel locally to gather signatures, obtain documents, or meet with clients or facilities when needed. • Attend occasional evening meetings, client appointments, and networking events Qualifications: • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Healthcare Administration, Paralegal Studies, or related field preferred. • Minimum 2 years of direct experience with Medicaid Long-Term Care applications (nursing home or community Medicaid). • In-depth understanding of Medicaid rules, including look-back period, asset limits, income budgeting, and transfer penalties. • Prior experience working in a law firm, social services agency, or healthcare facility is a strong plus. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex processes in plain language. • Familiarity with relevant software and tools, including Microsoft Office and case/document management systems. • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
