A highly respected, boutique law firm headquartered in Milwaukee has exclusively retained MB Attorney Search to identify a mid-to-senior level Public Finance Attorney to join their growing and nationally recognized public finance team.

    About the Opportunity

This firm represents a wide range of public sector clients—including municipalities, counties, school districts, and a national issuer of bonds—and is frequently engaged to serve as issuer’s counsel, borrower’s counsel, and bond counsel. Due to the volume of work the firm seeks an experienced public finance attorney who can hit the ground running, manage a diverse portfolio of transactions, and provide mentorship and oversight to junior lawyers.

    What You’llDo

    • Lead or support bond transactions in roles such as bond counsel, issuer’s counsel, or borrower’s counsel

    • Collaborate with school districts, municipalities, and other governmental entities throughout Wisconsin

    • Manage and supervise junior attorneys on the public finance team

    • Serve as a go-to resource for complex questions, including those related to tax-exempt bond issues (tax background helpful but not required)

    • Join a firm that values service to the public sector and emphasizes practical, client-centered advice

    Who You Are

    • You have 5 to 15+ years of relevant public finance legal experience

    • You are currently practicing at a law firm or have in-house experience with a bond issuer or public agency

    • You’re capable of managing bond transactions independently and mentoring junior colleagues

    • You are collaborative, detail-oriented, and committed to serving the public sector

    • You value firm culture and are seeking an opportunity that offers real input and ownership

    Culture & Compensation

This firm offers a non-hierarchical structure that values each lawyer’s strengths and contributions. There are no titles like “partner” or “of counsel”—everyone is a lawyer, and every voice matters. Compensation includes:

    • Competitive base salary (flexible based on experience and needs)

    • Performance-based bonuses

    • 401(k) with aggressive employer match and profit-sharing

    • Healthcare benefits

    • PTO and flexible policies that balance work and personal commitments

    • In-office culture strongly preferred, with flexibility for occasional remote work

The firm typically expects 1800 billable hours annually and encurages a collaborative, team-based approach to work. The environment is collegial and mission-driven, with annual retreats, social events, and a deep commitment to long-term professional satisfaction.

    Bonus Considerations

While the firm’s immediate need is for a practitioner who can focus on transactional execution, they are open to attorneys who bring a modest book of business provided the work aligns with the public finance practice.
