Part-Time Registered Nurse – LTSS Screening Program
Location: Virginia (multiple locations; travel may be required)
Position Type: Part-Time (20 hours/week, 12-month assignment)
About the Role:
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Public Health Nursing team is seeking a passionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to support the Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Screening Program and the LTSS Program Manager. The LTSS waiver is a Medicaid program that helps elderly individuals, people with physical disabilities, or those who are chronically ill or severely impaired receive care in their preferred setting—whether at home or in the community—helping them avoid or delay admission to a nursing facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct in-home assessments for children and adults to determine eligibility for Medicaid waiver services.
Identify training needs and develop tools for VDH LTSS screening teams.
Recognize and help resolve potential barriers to program requirements and deadlines.
Minimum Requirements:
Active RN license in Virginia or a compact state.
Ability to travel overnight as needed.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
Strong understanding of foundational public health services, including home visitation.
Tactful and professional in day-to-day interactions.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and foster team collaboration.
Flexible and receptive to change to meet agency needs and program requirements.
Clear, accurate, and concise written communication skills.
Ability to meet state-mandated deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Medicaid MES for accurate data entry and reporting.
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
