About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to support a community-based Family Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) focused on helping parents at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes and their children.

This position provides clinical oversight during participant assessment days, including blood pressure and blood glucose screenings. The nurse will serve as a clinical resource for program staff, respond to abnormal screening results, promote participant safety, and help ensure assessments are conducted according to established clinical protocols.

This is a great opportunity for an RN with experience in diabetes management, patient education, chronic disease, or public health who enjoys working directly with participants and supporting community health initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Provide clinical oversight for blood pressure and blood glucose screenings.
• Ensure staff follow established clinical protocols, infection prevention procedures, documentation requirements, and quality standards.
• Serve as a clinical resource for program staff and provide guidance regarding screening procedures and participant care.
• Assess and respond appropriately to critically high or low blood pressure or blood glucose readings.
• Determine appropriate next steps, including emergency response and referrals for medical follow-up when needed.
• Perform blood pressure and blood glucose screenings as needed to support program operations.
• Monitor participant safety and respond to medical concerns or emergencies within the scope of nursing practice.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and protect participant health information in accordance with HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
• Collaborate with the Diabetes Prevention Program team to coordinate assessment days and maintain an efficient participant experience.
• Participate in staff meetings, planning activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Complete required CITI Human Subjects Research training before working with study participants or within the required timeframe.
• Perform other related duties supporting the successful implementation of the Family Diabetes Prevention Program.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Part-time, hourly contract position.
• Availability needed for scheduled Diabetes Prevention Program sessions.
• Evening and weekend availability may be required.
• The program includes at least two cohorts, with approximately one session per week for each cohort.
• Additional time may be needed for participant screenings, preparation, and documentation.
• Travel between program locations in Fulton, DeKalb, and Bibb Counties may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Georgia.
• Experience conducting blood glucose screenings.
• Experience providing patient education.
• Clinical experience and knowledge of diabetes management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation and protect confidential information.
• Ability to complete CITI Human Subjects Research training before interacting with study participants.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in diabetes prevention, chronic disease management, or public health.
• Experience working with culturally diverse communities. 
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred but not required
