    ABOUT PUBLICINPUT

PublicInput is the fastest growing online platform for local government agencies to conduct and manage public outreach and listening. Today over 50 public agencies, including the cities like Raleigh, Austin, Denver, and Seattle use the platform to gather feedback on key topics.

The company is on a mission to put people back at the center of the democratic process, and to do that we're building tools that make it easier for state and local governments to engage and understand people. We believe the time is ripe for this approach, and our growth is validation -- the team has grown from 5 to 12 people over the past year with zero outside funding.

In addition to government clients, our tools are used by newsrooms like EducationNC, WRAL.com, and Outlier Media in Detroit to engage their audience across text messaging, surveys, and email. This growing line of business operates under the name “Reach”, and we continue to see synergies between news organizations and public agencies.

We are looking for a front-end developer with ninja-like JS skills to help us deliver more seamless experiences for residents and more robust reporting tools for our clients.

    THE TECH

PublicInput is built on the .NET development framework with an enterprise MSSQL database. Its roots were built in 2014 by a senior C# developer in Raleigh, and our technical founder & CEO has evolved the stack over the past 3 years. We stick to SOLID principles on the architecture, and have a number of automation tools to manage routine functions.

We (thankfully) haven't jumped on every front-end trend that's come down the pike, so you'll find very familiar things in our stack like bootstrap, JQuery and Razor views/partials. We employ a number of specific-use libraries like Mustache, D3, and Google Maps. Our own Javascript is built to be modular, with a focus on object-oriented design and clear naming conventions.

We're open to new frameworks and embracing ES6, always with the goal of delivering value to the client as quickly as possible in a consistent, solid manner.

    YOUR WORK

With clients in both government and online news, we're setting out to build the model for a 21st-century civic operating system. You'll be at the center of that transformation, and be personally contributing to the evolution of government and news.

Your day-to-day work will involve working with the CEO and product team to transform user stories into sketches and wireframes, then collaborating with full-stack developers to bring new functionality to life.

    YOUR BACKGROUND

This isn't your first rodeo. You've developed user-friendly interfaces and are fluent in HTML, CSS, and Javascript. You're also comfortable creating wireframes and storyboards to get customer feedback and align the development team behind a coherent concept.

We'll need you to be familiar with developing in the Microsoft .NET environment with MVC/Razor formats.

You don't have to have experience with C#, but any .NET and C# experience is a plus!
