    Job Description

    The Publicist will support day-to-day media relations for NBC News across the network’s TV, digital & streaming platforms, as well as assist in the promotion of network talent, programming, breaking news, election coverage and events. The Publicist will report into the Senior Director for NBC News Communications. The role requires extensive organizational skills, creative and innovative thinking, proven written skills and a strong interest in news, politics, media and public relations.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the NBC News PR Senior Director in promotion of NBC News programming, newsgathering and talent across the network’s TV, digital and streaming platforms.
    • Monitor and publicize news-making interviews, exclusives, and special coverage; promote exclusive and enterprise stories.
    • Provide support with research projects and other assigned press projects.
    • Generate press materials, including press releases, pitches, editorial lists, bios, talking points & social media posts.
    • Develop and maintain press lists and key media relationships.
    • Identity speaking opportunities and relevant conferences for talent and executives.
    • Assist with facilitating and staffing various press events including interviews, press tours, or special coverage events.
    • This position requires working from the office a minimum of 4 days per week.

    • Must have minimum 3 years of work experience in public relations or communications role.
    • Experience in news and journalism a strong plus.
    • Must have strong interest in news, politics and media.
    • Must be available to work in New York.
    • Willingness to travel and work overtime on short notice.

    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Should be able to work in fast-paced environment and meet crucial deadlines.
    • Robust understanding of and enthusiasm for the television news and media industry.

    Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
