    As an employee of Union Hospital, it is the responsibility of this, and all positions within the Hospital, to support the mission and role of Union Hospital.  In addition, this position will actively support the Hospital’s strategic plan in the areas of People, Service, Quality, Finance and Growth, in a team-based environment.   The employee also performs all job duties in compliance with laws and regulations and in observance of accrediting agency standards.

     

    THE NETWORK TECHNICIAN WORKS UNDER THE TECHNICAL SERVICES MANAGER ASSISTING IN THE STRATEGIC PLANNING, IMPLEMENTATION AND SUPPORT OF ANY INFRASTRUCTURE NEW OR EXISTING AT UNION HOSPITAL BY ASSISTING IN THE SETUP OF SAID TECHNOLOGY AND WORKLOAD OF BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL PROCESSES. AS WELL AS ASSISTING THE COMPUTER TECHNICIAN WITH ANY WORK OVERFLOW.

    CORE COMPETENCIES FOR THE POSITION

    • Age-specific competence for this position is not required, but an understanding of patients/customers served is necessary.
    • Maintains all connectivity throughout the hospital such as pulling all network lines to computers/servers/cabinets/switches/main core.
    • Responsible for support of the hospital technical network infrastructure.
    • Assists in determining the cause of problems (hardware or software), helps with solutions and assists in the implement of said solutions.
    • Responsible for carrying out maintenance on all cabinets and cabinet power supplies as well as wireless access points.
    • Ensures excellent design of systems to allow all components to work properly.
    • Makes recommendations for future upgrades.
    • Takes steps to identify and address any connection problems internal and external for the hospital.
    • Documents, analyzes, and tests information system technical infrastructure, based on system design specifications for optimum efficiency.
    • Proficient in the following: Microsoft Windows Servers, SQL databases, Bat files/scripts, Windows Computers, printer and print server setup, Network Security, Exchange Servers, Microsoft Office, Active Directory, VMware (Cisco Blades w/HP SAN), Microsoft’s Hyper-V, virtualization, Virus scan protection (McAfee, Panda, Bit Defender), Citrix XenApp.

    Required Skills

    1. HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE OR EQUIVALENT
    2. ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN A RELATED FIELD PREFERRED.
    3. A MINIMUM OF ONE YEAR EQUIVALENT BUSINESS EXPERIENCE, PREFERABLY IN A HOSPITAL OR HEALTH CARE SETTING.
    4. DEMONSTRATED PROFICIENCY IN TYPING, DATA ENTRY AND PC KNOWLEDGE.
    5. MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT UP TO 30 POUNDS.
    6. EXCELLENT INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ABILITY TO WORK WELL WITH OTHERS PROJECTING A POSITIVE IMAGE FOR THE HOSPITAL.
    7. EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION, ORGANIZATIONAL AND DETAIL SKILLS.
    8. ABILITY TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY AND PRIORITIZE WORK.
    9. ABILITY TO REMAIN CALM AND FUNCTION WELL IN STRESSFUL SITUATIONS.
