Pulmonary Critical Care Physician – Columbia VA Health Care System

Position Overview
The Columbia VA Health Care System (WJB Dorn VA Medical Center) seeks Board Certified/Board Eligible Pulmonary Critical Care Physicians to provide pulmonary and critical care services to eligible Veterans. Physicians must be on site and deliver timely, high-quality care in compliance with VA standards.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
• Scheduled OR days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
• On-call rotation: Evenings, weekends, holidays. Must be available by phone within 15 minutes and on site within 30 minutes.
• Arrive 20 minutes prior to scheduled shift. Minimum of two physicians onsite daily.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with unrestricted license in any U.S. state or territory
• Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pulmonary Disease (ABIM)
• Current NPI and DEA
• AHA BLS and ACLS (active)
• Strong clinical background in pulmonary and critical care, including operative and consultative services
• No prior revoked, suspended, or restricted licenses

Key Duties

• Provide pulmonary and critical care services in outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings
• Conduct pre-op, intra-op, and post-op follow-up, including ICU rounds
• Perform timely consults and document evaluations within 24 hours
• Participate in morbidity and mortality conferences
• Ensure compliance with VA wait time standards and clinic operations
