JOB SUMMARY The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the timely purchase of materials, commodities, supplies, equipment, and services of appropriate quality and correct quantity from qualified suppliers, negotiate prices and delivery as necessary to achieve the lowest cost to the company, and execute Purchase Orders (P. O’S) in a timely manner based on either Purchasing Managers signal or non-inventory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and maintain inventory to support the sales activity of the company.
Gather market data and monitor sales trends, including product projections, dips, and spikes.
Monitor supply trends- projection of product dips and spikes.
Place new P.O and monitor existing PO with product vendors
Analyze vendor performance i.e., on time shipment, quality of product to reduce supply uncertainties.
Analyze inventory turns and averages
Interact with unloading and yard personnel.
Assist sales and operations in managing inventory levels.
Assist with job site direct deliveries.
Analyze new products with sales team.
Work under the supervision of the purchasing manager.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience (Supply Chain or Operations degree preferred)
3 to 5 years inventory control and/or purchasing experience
Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
Knowledge of purchasing concepts and application preferred
Strong computer skills including MS Office software required

Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, and technical skills
Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Knowledge of market and business and commodity management
