    Purchasing Agent – Union, MO

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    A well-established manufacturing company in Union, MO is currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join their growing team. This role plays a vital part in supporting production operations by sourcing and procuring quality materials, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring timely deliveries. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced industrial environment, a solid understanding of procurement processes, and strong organizational skills.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Source, negotiate, and procure raw materials, components, and supplies for manufacturing operations
    • Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing needs based on production schedules
    • Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery terms
    • Review and evaluate purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders accordingly
    • Track and expedite orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any discrepancies or delays
    • Coordinate with internal departments such as production, engineering, and accounting to ensure material needs are met
    • Monitor vendor performance and initiate corrective action when necessary
    • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation in accordance with company policies
    • Support cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for supply chain improvements
    • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company procedures

    REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Prior experience in purchasing, supply chain, or procurement within a manufacturing or industrial environment
    • Knowledge of materials commonly used in aluminum or extrusion-based production is preferred
    • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Proficiency with procurement software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
    • High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines
    • Problem-solving mindset and ability to handle vendor or delivery issues effectively

       

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
    • 2–4 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, ideally in a manufacturing setting

    WORK SCHEDULE:

    • Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – approximately 4:30 PM

       

       

    COMPENSATION:

    • Pay will be determined based on experience and qualifications
