Northwest Pump is seeking a driven Purchasing Buyer to join our team. What will this position do?
- Process purchase orders, coordinate with suppliers, and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor and respond to customer needs through the purchasing group inbox
- Process vendor pricing updates
- Oversee customer and factory returns processes
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure timely, high-quality goods and services
- Research and source new products and suppliers to expand offerings and improve competitiveness
- Track inventory usage, forecast demand, and maintain optimal stock levels
- Analyze purchasing data for cost savings, process improvements, and inventory optimization
- Ensure products meet quality standards and verify pricing/receiving accuracy for invoicing
- Collaborate with other departments to align purchasing activities with business goal
What are we looking for?
- 1–3 years of purchasing or related experience; or equivalent combination of education/experience
- Strong customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
- Self-motivated and dependable; able to work independently and in a team setting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; adept at fostering productive vendor, customer, and internal relationships
- Ability to analyze purchasing data and identify trends or cost-saving opportunities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Intermediate Excel knowledge including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables a plus
- Experience with ERP systems a huge plus – particularly Infor CSD
- Knowledge of the industrial equipment industry or mechanical aptitude a plus

- This is a full-time, hybrid position, working regular business hours, Monday through Friday
