Job Title: Purchasing Coordinator
Department: Supply Chain / Operations
Reports To: Global Order Fulfillment Manager
Location: Irving, TX
Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Supervisor to manage the procurement of both finished goods and raw materials from domestic and international suppliers. This role conducts purchasing operations and collaborates closely with logistics, warehouse and order fulfillment teams to ensure the timely and cost-effective flow of goods. The ideal candidate will also work cross-functionally with Quality Assurance, Finance, and R&D departments to support company objectives related to compliance, cost control, and product development.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchasing & Procurement
• Source and purchase raw materials and finished goods from domestic and international vendors.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to optimize cost, quality, and reliability.
• Manage the full lifecycle of purchase orders, from requisition to delivery and invoicing.
Supplier & Compliance Management
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure suppliers meet product specifications, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in supplier audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement programs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with R&D to source materials and components for new product development and prototyping.
• Work with Finance to manage purchasing budgets, review cost variances, and support inventory valuation processes.
• Ensure timely and accurate cost updates in the ERP system in coordination with finance and accounting.
• Ensure timely and accurate updates to Order Fulfillment team in alignment with customer expectations.
• Communicate effectively with sales and customer service to resolve supply chain issues.
Shipping, Receiving & Logistics
• Assist with coordination of domestic and international shipments, including customs documentation and freight arrangements.
• Address shipping discrepancies, damages, and delivery delays promptly with suppliers.
Warehouse & Inventory Management
• Supervise receiving and verification of goods.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and reconciliations.
• Drive efficiency improvements and enforce safety and handling standards.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in purchasing, supply chain, or operations.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Quality, Finance, and R&D teams.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficient with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SimPro, Misys) and Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of import/export regulations and international procurement practices.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Skills:
• APICS, ISM, or related certification (e.g., CPIM, CSCP, CPSM).
• Familiarity with ISO standards, GMP, or industry-specific compliance.
• Understanding of cost accounting principles and product lifecycle management.
Work Environment:
• Combination of office and warehouse settings.
• Occasional travel may be required to supplier sites or industry events.
