Position Summary
The Purchasing Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting project execution through the timely and accurate procurement of materials, equipment, and services. This position works closely with the Lead Estimator, Project Managers, and Accounting to ensure materials are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in alignment with project budgets and schedules.
This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, responsive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate procurement of construction materials, supplies, and services across multiple active projects
Work directly with the Lead Estimator to align purchasing decisions with project budgets, scopes, and cost expectations
Solicit and compare vendor quotes to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions
Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation
Track orders, deliveries, and lead times to align with project schedules
Maintain and build strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
Collaborate with Project Managers and Site Supervisors to confirm material needs and timing
Monitor inventory levels and assist with material planning as needed
Ensure all procurement activity is properly documented and uploaded into company systems (e.g., Procore)
Assist Accounting with invoice matching, discrepancies, and approvals
Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within procurement operations
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or construction coordination
Experience in construction or a related industry strongly preferred
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Experience with construction management software (Procore preferred)
Excellent communication and vendor management skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
