Purchasing Specialist
Role: Under supervised direction, performs professional work of advanced difficulty in the technical administrative functions of the purchasing activities of the campus, including purchasing, fixed assets, and contract administration. This position is responsible for the procurement of construction, supplies, and professional services that are to be conducted in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
The salary for this position is $25.68 - $38.52 per hour.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
40% Responsible for procuring or coordinating the procurement of supplies and services required by various departments across the campuses in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
20% Prepare highly technical and complex specifications, contracts and solicitation documents, including all related research and value analysis.
10% Prepare and analyze competitive sealed bids, competitive sealed proposals, requests for quotations and requests for statements of qualifications.
10% Identify and notify potential vendors, arrange pre-bid and pre-proposal conferences.
10% Confer with departments regarding requirements, specifications, quantity, quality, and delivery. Recommend alternatives that would result in greater value. Engage in procurement planning with departments and providing high quality service to meet client service.
10% Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: (1) A two-year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
Other Skills: Experience in finance, accounting, or purchasing or other closely related field.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk.
Work Environment: Conditions found in a typical office setting.
