Job Overview:
The Construction Manager Trainee works with our CMs from start to finish to learn the entire construction process; design, development, and completion of the final product. This includes attending meetings with appropriate personnel, conducting site visits, overseeing construction process, tracking project status, and completing all necessary paperwork.
Duties to Learn:
Works closely with all design consultants to prepare, review & evaluate construction documents.
Studies specifications of plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
Establishes project schedules in order to meet project deadlines.
Prepares cost estimates that include full range quantity takeoffs, compiles hard bid, design/build, & square foot estimates.
Procures all required permits and/or licenses to proceed with project.
Attends weekly conference calls and provides site-by-site tracking spreadsheet to monitor activity.
Inspects work in progress to ensure that construction conforms to specifications and the adherence to schedules.
Coordinates surveying of the construction area/site, including site walks with all necessary parties.
Prepares close out documents upon project completion.
Education/Experience/Skills Desired to become a CM:
2+ years as a Construction Manager, preferably within telecom
3+ years' experience doing cell tower construction and/or relative experience.
Certification in 30-hour OSHA construction course.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively speak, communicate and present information to customers, clients, tenants, employees of the organization and management.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Valid Driver's License
Travel may be required on a regular basis. A commitment is required to attend meetings and overtime maybe be required depending on workload and job schedules.
