  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    HOURS:  Monday - Friday between hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Flexibility to school schedule will be allowed.  (Part-time, non-benefited)

    Participate in the day to day operations of the IT/IS department and will be involved in several projects in support of Pyrotek company users.  The primary goal of the internship is to show the participant the inner workings of a professional IT environment while they complete projects and tasks assigned to them.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Oversee the decommissioning of old IT hardware at the Carlisle site, and help to define process for this moving forward.
    2. Coordinate with local System Administrator to re-organize/clean-up Server Room, specifically storage area and current wiring set up.
    3. Coordinate with local System Administrator for proper deployment of new PC’s – Updating firmware, updating software packages, replacing hardware.
    4. Assist with maintaining software/hardware compliance of current PC’s in Carlisle.
    5. Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on systems and applications in accordance to Pyrotek policies and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
    6. Practice asset management, including maintenance of inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
    7. Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.
    8. Promote positive employee and customer relations by supporting Pyrotek’s commitment to a working environment of tolerance, acceptance and civility.  Respond appropriately to inquiries, concerns and complaints by being professional, courteous and respectful at all times.
    9. Maintain regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance, as required to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.
    10. Actively and positively participate in problem resolution, demonstrating constructive communication, timely response and effective resolution skills.  Work effectively within team environments both within your department and across the organization.
    11. Cooperate and comply fully with all Pyrotek policies and procedures.  Actively support and follow the Pyrotek Safety Program.
    12. Participate in company/department meetings, training activities, continuing education programs and other associated activities.
    13. Consistently promote and communicate Pyrotek’s core values through work performance and excellent customer service.   
    14. Perform other tasks as assigned.

    PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: The following physical activities described here are representative of those required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this position.     Must be able to sit for long periods-of-time, bend and reach, use stairs, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and communicate effectively in English by telephone, in person and in writing. Effectively use a personal computer, office equipment and telephone.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Generally work in an office environment with exposure to a manufacturing environment where employee may be exposed to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles where PPE is required.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  High School Diploma and currently pursuing a degree in IT/IS, or a related field.  

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES :   CORE PEOPLE SKILLS.  Excellent Customer Service skills, and the ability to positively interact and work collaboratively with a diverse group of people at all levels of the organization.  Genuine with high ethical standards and values and personal integrity and honesty.  Ability to apply a large measure of common sense to a variety of situations.  Must be a self-starter that is very task oriented.

    COMPUTER/APPLICATIONS SKILLS.  Basic technical knowledge of systems and applications including Windows 10 and Office 365. Basic hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.  Ability to document configuration and process information.  Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

    CORE BUSINESS SKILLS. Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in handling of proprietary and confidential information.  Ability to work independently, without significant direction and to use resources effectively to “figure it out”.  Strong critical thinking skills, judgment and keen attention to detail and accuracy.  Exceptional prioritization, time management and organizational skills.  

    ANALYTICAL SKILLS.  Ability to use information/data and various metrics to develop an informed and factual business case.  Ability to define problems, collect objective data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
