QA/QC Director - Critical Facilities - Sterling, VA

We are seeking a Director of QA/QC to lead quality assurance and quality control efforts for a mission-critical data center project located onsite in Hermiston, OR. This individual will oversee the implementation of quality programs, ensure compliance with operational standards, and serve as a key stakeholder in the development, commissioning, and turnover of critical infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience in QA/QC and deep technical expertise in MEP systems and commissioning within data center environments.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the on-site QA/QC leader, overseeing all aspects of critical infrastructure quality control across construction and operations phases
- Perform regular site audits and walk-throughs, ensuring adherence to company standards, processes, and safety protocols
- Partner with Project Managers, Construction Teams, Commissioning Agents, and Facility Operators to enforce quality expectations throughout all stages of buildout
- Lead the review and approval of Method of Procedures (MOPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and testing documentation
- Supervise the acceptance and commissioning process, ensuring the facility meets company quality and operational standards before handover
- Act as the primary point of escalation for QA/QC issues, providing resolution and guidance to internal teams and contractors
- Provide direction and mentorship to on-site teams including facility managers, technicians, sub-contractors, and third-party vendors
- Establish and monitor performance benchmarks, analyze trends, and produce detailed reporting on operational readiness and uptime metrics
- Support the development and continuous improvement of internal QA/QC procedures and training programs
- Collaborate with business leaders to optimize safety, performance, and reliability while reducing risk in mission-critical operations
- Ensure site readiness aligns with corporate goals of 99.999% uptime
- Provide technical input on construction designs, ensuring alignment with quality standards and operational best practices
- Assist in creating and reviewing critical environment programs, including documentation, reporting tools, and process manuals
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in data center construction, commissioning, and operational quality control
- 5+ years in a leadership or director-level role managing QA/QC or facility operations in mission-critical environments
- Deep understanding of critical electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS systems, switchgear, generators, PDUs, chillers, CRAHs/CRACs, and building management systems
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and regulatory compliance for mission-critical operations
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills with a proactive mindset
- Effective communicator with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; confident in engaging with executives, clients, and vendors
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other reporting tools
- Previous experience in the Military / Military Veterans a huge plus! Especially those with electrical or mechanical backgrounds: Navy nukes - EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees; Army - Power Generation; Air Force – Power Production; Generator Techs; Maritime; Coast Guard; Army National Guard, etc.
