  • Responsibilities

    The QC Fabrication In-process Inspector position reports directly to the QC Fabrication Inspection Supervisor and performs the following in-process inspections in the fabrication department.

    Laser Cut and Formed Metal In-process Inspection Responsibilities

    • Verifies cut components are free of burrs and sharp edges
    • Verifies bent components are bent in the proper orientation by comparing the component to the engineered drawings.
    • Signs off on in process inspection checklists validating successful inspections.

    Copper Forming and Epoxy Insulation In-Process Inspection Responsibilities

    • Verifies all copper hole punching is free from burrs or damaged to copper components.
    • Verifies epoxy insulation is free from knicks, burns, cuts or visible damage
    • Confirms copper length to engineered drawings.

    Welding In-Process Inspection Responsibilities

    • Verifies proper fit-up/alignment of laser cut/formed components prior to welding
    • Verifies welds on components prior to completed assembly welds
    • Confirms components are properly identified with part number labels/engravings

    Component Powder Coating In-Process Inspection Responsibilities

    • Verifies paint finish does not contain any peeling, bubbling or discoloration using paint color chip(s)
    • Verifies correct paint mil thickness

    The in-process Inspector will

    • Be responsible for utilizing squares and mil thickness gauges to validate component compliance.
    • Form fills paperwork to validate inspections completed
    • Complete NCRs to ensure nonconforming products are properly addressed and documented.

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED required
    • 1–3 years of manufacturing, fabrication, QC, or inspection experience required
    • Ability to read engineered drawings and verify part compliance
    • Ability to use inspection tools such as squares, rulers, and mil thickness gauges
    • Ability to identify fabrication, welding, insulation, and coating defects
    • Strong documentation skills, including inspection forms and NCRs
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety

    Preferred

    • 3+ years of in-process inspection experience in a fabrication environment
    • Experience with sheet metal, copper forming, welding, epoxy insulation, or powder coating inspection
    • Experience with NCR documentation and quality systems
    • Familiarity with additional measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers
    • Experience in switchgear, electrical manufacturing, or custom industrial fabrication
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
