    Position Overview

    We are seeking an experienced QC Inspector – Plumbing to perform quality control inspections, verification, and documentation of all plumbing and drainage systems, including domestic water, sanitary, vent, stormwater, and specialized piping networks.
    The role ensures that installations and tests are executed in full compliance with project specifications, drawings, Texas local plumbing codes, and international standards (IPC, UPC, ASME, ASTM).

    This position reports directly to the QC Engineer and works closely with Trade Team Leads, subcontractors, and the client's QA/QC representatives to ensure that all plumbing works are executed in line with approved procedures and codes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Inspect plumbing, drainage, vent, and storm systems during installation, testing, and commissioning stages to ensure conformity with approved drawings and submittals.
    • Verify compliance with ITPs, Quality Plans, MMRs, and Inspection Requests (IRs) across all plumbing activities.
    • Check that all materials, fittings, and fixtures meet project and code requirements, including NSF, ASME, and ASTM certifications.
    • Witness and record results of pressure tests, air tests, flow tests, and disinfection procedures.
    • Ensure installations follow International Plumbing Code (IPC) , Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) , and local Texan amendments.
    • Inspect routing, slope, supports, and insulation of piping systems for accuracy and workmanship.
    • Identify non-conformances, issue NCRs , and track corrective actions through closure.
    • Verify installation and labeling of plumbing equipment such as pumps, valves, interceptors, and water heaters.
    • Maintain inspection logs, photographs, checklists, and daily reports for traceability.
    • Attend daily coordination (“ flex and stretch ”) meetings with GC and trade partners to plan upcoming activities and ensure inspection readiness.
    • Support the QC Engineer during audits, pre-commissioning, and system turnover documentation.
    • Enforce safety procedures in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and project safety requirements while performing field inspections.

    Applicable Codes and Standards (Reference)

    • International Plumbing Code (IPC) and Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC)
    • **** ASME standards for piping and pressure systems
    • ASTM standards for metallic and non-metallic pipes and fittings
    • NFPA 13, 14, 20 for related fire protection interfaces
    • NSF 61 / 14 for potable water and drainage components
    • Local Texas amendments and enforcement practices

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical or Plumbing Engineering, or related field.
    • 3–7 years of plumbing inspection or quality control experience in large-scale commercial or infrastructure projects.
    • Proficient understanding of IPC/UPC, ASME, and ASTM standards.
    • Familiarity with inspection documentation (ITPs, NCRs, IRs, test forms, checklists).
    • Ability to read and interpret drawings, submittals, and test data.
    • Experience in pressure, air, and flow testing procedures.
    • Proficiency in MS Office.
    • Excellent attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and communication skills.
    • Physically fit for fieldwork in active construction environments.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • ISO 9001:2015 or NICET certification in plumbing or mechanical systems.
    • ICC Plumbing Inspector or equivalent credential.
    • Experience in Texas plumbing code enforcement or municipal coordination.
    • Knowledge of medical gas, graywater, or RO systems inspection procedures.

    Reporting & Authority

    • Reports directly to the QC Engineer and functionally supports the Plumbing Trade Team Lead.
    • Authorized to issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and verify corrective measures.
    • Coordinates with subcontractor foremen and client inspectors to close inspection-related items efficiently.
