    Job Description

    QED Systems, LLC, is currently recruiting for an Alternative Navigation (ALTNAV) Operations Specialist **** with Satellite Communications (SATCOM) **** and Global Positioning System (GPS) expertise to join our team in Huntsville, AL to support our customer, Project Manager Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PM PNT).

    Duties:

    • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) to support the products, technologies, and ongoing efforts within the PM PNT portfolio to design and build a reliable network to support critical missions.

    • Plan, coordinate, establish, and oversee PM PNT SATCOM Operations.

    • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for a SATCOM Operations Cell.

    • Develop prioritization scheme to deconflict support requirements to PM PNT events.

    • Work with other SMEs, customers, and users to learn the goals and operational needs that shape the network requirements.

    • Provide professional status briefings to superiors, update weekly status and activities reports.

    • Manage Satellite Signal Requests and keep units appraised of status.

    • Develop Operational Concepts and Concept of Operations (CONOPS).

    • Develop training materials to support training soldiers, Commanders and Staff on SATCOM Services and processes.

    • Stand up a provisioning cell in Huntsville, Alabama for the ALTNAV Ground Control Segment, to include planning, site selection, coordination, and approval.

    • Revise a process to provision the ALTNAV signal, to include signal priority, and Satellite deconfliction.

    • Physically occupy the provisioning space, to include setting up and installing all associated hardware.

    • Attend planning and status meetings as required.

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • Must have previous Satellite operations experience.
    • Detailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Military experience with Global Position System Technologies.
    • Experience with Army C5ISR Systems.
    • Experience developing Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs).
    • Experience developing Operational Concepts and Concept of Operations (CONOPS).
    • Possess a deep understanding of military processes and procedures.
    • Organizational skill required to manage multiple stakeholder requests.
    • Ability to train soldiers, Commanders and Staff on procedures required to obtain Satellite services.
    • Experience with the implementation and injection of advanced technology in military units.
    • Accomplished presenter, writer, with advanced skills at defining priorities and accomplishing tasks on time or early.
    • Requires a motivated, self-starter that can think outside of the box. **

    Required Clearance:

    • ACTIVE CLEARANCE LEVEL REQUIRED: Secret

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Ten (10) years of total experience, five (5) of which are in a related field.
    • An additional four (4) years of related experience may be substituted for the degree.
    • Must have understanding and experience in development, test and evaluation of major systems.

    Travel:

    25 % - 50% travel is expected for this position. Travel may include continental United States (CONUS) and outside continental United States (OCONUS) locations.

    Work Environment:

    This position may be performed in a variety of locations, including but not limited to, commercial and/or government offices, test and integration labs, government facilities and depots, and test & evaluation and proving grounds.

    Physical Demands:

    Physical demands of this position include ability to:

    • Be independently mobile.
    • Communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
    • Withstand prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer use.
    • Climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
    • Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as glasses/goggles eyes), ear plugs/muffs (hearing), hard hats, and breathing respirators/masks.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: ****

    This is a full‐time position, Monday through Friday. Flexibility around core hours. Travel may occur outside of normal core hours.

    Compensation

    QED offers a competitive compensation package for employees. Our total compensation package is value-based and negotiable depending upon the candidate’s specific skills and applicable relevant experience. Estimated annual salary, $90.3K to $107.9K.
