Job Description

The Loan Review Analyst will perform an in-depth forensic underwriting review of closed mortgage loan files for compliance with applicable State and Federal laws and adherence to specific lender guidelines. Reviews include identifying major and minor deficiencies within a loan file and making a final determination of the overall investment quality of the loan.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Review and analyze borrower’s mortgage applications, credit reports and related documents
• Review employment documentation and re-calculate income for completeness/accuracy per guidelines
• Review and recalculate asset documentation per guideline requirements
• Review credit report and re-calculate liabilities
• Review title commitments and title policies
• Review and analyze real estate purchase contracts
• Review and analyze HUD-1/Closing Disclosures
• Review and analyze transaction costs, seller and financing concessions, and assets required to close
• Review appraisals for completeness, red flags, health and safety issues, and external obsolescence
• Analyze individual loan files and determine compliance with applicable lender guidelines
• Identify all red flags within a loan file and ensure they are addressed accordingly
• Apply underwriter sound judgment to determine major or minor deficiencies within a loan file

REQUIREMENTS:

• 3+ years underwriting experience with exposure to both manual and automated underwriting environments
• Minimum two years’ experience underwriting to FNMA and/or FHLMC guidelines
• Demonstrate impeccable written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent time management skills with an emphasis on quality
• Knowledge and understanding of transaction components that indicate a loan is investment quality
• Must be self-motivated, creative and able to work in a team environment while thinking independently and sharing knowledge and ideas
• Must be able to multi task between multiple analytical projects
• Strong computer skills
