    Data Engineer/Scientist

     

    Job Description

    ·         Use data science and statistical analysis with experience building mathematical algorithms and machine learning models to effectively solve business problems.

    ·         Build tools/workflows and support structures needed to analyze data, perform data cleaning, execute feature detection and extract business value from data.

    ·         Interact and use large data sets, unstructured data, structured data and supporting compute/cloud systems - experience with Microsoft Azure or Hadoop preferred.

    ·         Write code/software in one of the following languages with multi-language experience preferred: R, Python, MATLAB, C.

    ·         Develop prototype workflows & software for use in field operations.

    ·         Under minimal guidance use data, software and mathematics/algorithms to develop business hypotheses, answer questions or identify trends that are critical for the business.

    ·         Develop prototype data analysis and processing workflows for use in field applications.

    ·         Create data visualization products to communicate results both internally and externally.

    ·         Collaborate with other analytics colleagues to formulate analysis plans.

    ·         Work with development teams, operations and business groups to ensure models/workflows can be implemented as part of a delivered solution replicable across all districts/crews/clients.

    ·         Stay engaged with the latest technologies/software available in the area of big data and data analytics.

    ·         Provide guidance to the business on potential data-related investment opportunities, appropriate analytics tools and big data collaboration opportunities both internally and externally.

    ·         Capture intellectual property for Halliburton in the area of algorithms, automation, big data, and data visualization.

     

    Requirements

    ·         Must have a degree in a quantitative field like Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics or Physics. Basic knowledge of oil and gas unconventional operations preferred.

    ·         Requirements of the position:

    ·         Expertise in various predictive modeling:

    ·         Expertise in supervised learning regression and classification algorithms: Linear regression, Logistics regression, Decision Tree, SVM, KNN

    ·         Expertise in unsupervised learning such as PCA/SVD/ICA/LDA, K-means, t-SNE, Hierarchical clustering

    ·         Expertise in ensemble modeling such as Random forest and Gradient Boosting

    ·         Experience building deep learning models: DNN, CNN, RNN, LSTM

    ·         Deep Knowledge of ML/AI software and packages such as python: scikit-learn, Tensorflow and R: CARET 

    ·         Expertise in model validation, hyperparameter tuning, and model selection techniques such as cross validation, leave-one-out, bootstrap

    ·         Knowledge of different database and data extraction tools such as: SQL, JSON, protobuf, noSQL

    ·         Expertise in data visualization package and software such as python: matplotlib and plotly, R: ggplot, Tableau, spotfire, power BI

    ·         Knowledge of one or more big data platform such as Hadoop, Spark

    ·         Expertise in data wrangling using libraries such as pandas and languages like python and R

    ·         Experience with distributed data/computing tools: Map Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, MySQL, etc.

    ·         Proficiency in statistics concepts: sampling theory, descriptive statistics, probability distributions, statistical tests, dimensionality reduction, Hypothesis testing, maximum likelihood estimators, inference, etc. ...

    ·         Proficiency in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/GAM/Regression, Classifications, Random Forest, Boosting

    ·         Knowledge of Bayesian statistical framework

    ·         Knowledge of Monte-Carlo and markov-chain framework

    ·         Expertise in one or more statistical software such as R, SAS, Stata, python packages such as Statsmodels, scipy and scikit-learn

    ·         Knowledge of diagnostics statistics and performance measurements of statistical models

    ·         Knowledge of linear and non-linear correlation and auto-correlation methods

    ·         Knowledge of regularization methods 

    ·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    ·         Excellent attention to detail

    ·         Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way
