ACCOUNTING &PAYROLL SPECIALIST
SUMMARY
The Accounting & Payroll Specialist is responsible for the weekly processing of payroll. Will ensure accurate processing/recording of payroll and new hire entries, provide timely and accurate financial information and participate and manage various accounting functions (e.g., AP, AR).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process weekly payroll of 250+
- Enter all new hire information into Paychex Preview, QuickBooks and the Job Cost Report
- Collect, review, and process all timesheets after hours have been verified and approved
- Process payments via RapidCard
- Reconcile job cost prior to transmission
- Process all court-ordered or tax levied wage garnishments and ensure timely payment thereof
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal wage and hour laws
- Create and manage weekly invoicing
- May process AP and/or AR
- Complete employment and wage verifications
- Assist with compiling and preparing payroll tax reports, unemployment tax reports and various other payroll-related reports
- Create and maintain employee payroll files and assist with annual processing and dispersing of W-2 forms
- Responds to employee questions on payroll and related issues
- May assist with month end, quarter end, and year end functions
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge base may require AS or related degree. Requires minimum of four (2) years of experience; may have fewer years of experience with a Bachelor's degree
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent; some college education is preferred
- 2+ years of payroll experience
- Experience processing a payroll of 250+ employees
- Working experience with Paychex Preview/TLO and QuickBooks (preferred)
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Strong work ethic and team player
- Decision-making, problem-solving and analytical skills
