    Mental Health Skill-Building Services (MHSB)

    Position Summary

    L&G Support and Resources is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) to provide Mental Health Skill-Building Services (MHSB) to adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring behavioral health challenges. The QMHP will assist individuals in developing the skills necessary to achieve and maintain independence in the community, improve functioning, and reduce the need for more intensive levels of care.

    Services are provided in accordance with Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS), Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), and agency policies and procedures.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Provide Mental Health Skill-Building Services to adults diagnosed with serious mental illness and other qualifying mental health conditions.

    Conduct assessments of client strengths, needs, abilities, and barriers to independent living.

    Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Service Plans (ISPs) in collaboration with clients and treatment team members.

    Teach and reinforce skills related to:

    Medication management

    Activities of daily living

    Budgeting and financial management

    Community integration

    Communication and interpersonal skills

    Housing stability

    Accessing healthcare and community resources

    Symptom management and coping skills

    Coordinate services with case managers, therapists, psychiatrists, primary care providers, social service agencies, and other community resources.

    Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with DMAS, DBHDS, Medicaid, and agency requirements.

    Complete progress notes, service plans, discharge summaries, and other required documentation within established timeframes.

    Participate in treatment team meetings, supervision, staff meetings, and required trainings.

    Monitor client progress and communicate significant changes in functioning, safety concerns, or treatment needs to supervisors and treatment team members.

    Provide crisis intervention support and linkage to appropriate services when needed.

    Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, DMAS, DBHDS, and agency regulations.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or a related human services field.

    Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-A or QMHP-C) credential through the Virginia Board of Counseling, or ability to obtain credential within required timeframe.

    Knowledge of serious mental illness, behavioral health services, recovery-oriented practices, and community resources.

    Ability to work independently and manage a community-based caseload.

    Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

    Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.

    Preferred Qualifications

    One year of experience providing community-based behavioral health services.

    Experience working with adults diagnosed with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders.

    Knowledge of Medicaid-funded behavioral health services in Virginia.

    Experience with person-centered planning and recovery-oriented care.

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to travel throughout the service area to meet clients in community settings, homes, and agency locations.

    Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform duties associated with community-based service delivery.

    Ability to transport clients when authorized by agency policy.

    Requirements

    Valid Virginia driver's license.

    Reliable transportation.

    Current automobile insurance.

    Ability to pass criminal background, CPS, and OIG exclusion screenings.

    Ability to complete required agency and state-mandated trainings.
