    Position Summary:

    To perform inspection on finished goods for the machine shop. The position is to support machine shop operations within the company and requires coordination with other departmental supervisors, machinists, sub-contractors, engineering, and management to ensure timely delivery of quality parts. The position reports directly to the QC Manager.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    · Inspect material and parts for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics.

    · Assist the Machine Shop Supervisor with first article inspections.

    · Ability to Read / Understand / Interpret engineering drawings and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.

    · Use of measuring devices and tools to perform inspection and testing of products and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.

    · Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum within limits of equipment capability.

    Minimum Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    · Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.

    · Three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Machinist background is preferred.

    · Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings and technical procedures. Ability to write reports and effectively communicate with the machine shop. Able to respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    · Ability to work with basic mathematics and an understanding of solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    · Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    · Knowledge and use of digital and analog measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers, to perform the inspection of the product.

    · General knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, E-Mail messaging, and manufacturing/inventory software.

    · While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and must be able to walk, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    The work environment is an air-conditioned shop where the employee is working near or around heavy machinery such as forklifts, overhead cranes, CNC and other manufacturing machines. Steel toe shoes and safety glasses are a requirement. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
