Schedule: Monday – Friday 10:50PM- until Finish roughly 7AM.

General Job description:
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for working to facilitate a quality-based vision by focusing on compliance to quality produced products. This person will work with manufacturing to ensure that the finished products meet our “Truly Enjoyable Snacks” standard. The QA Technician will assist in ensuring the plant environment meets food safety cleanliness objectives and operates according to established safety standards.
Principle functions of the job:
• Adhere to all current GMP’s, food safety requirements and company policies
• Check specific gravity on each incoming load of potatoes
• Check moisture of chips; notify fryer operators of results so corrective actions can be taken as needed
• Check salt content and seasoning levels of chips; work with leads to ensure salt and seasoning levels are maintained at target levels
• Perform organoleptic evaluations of the chips for defects, color, flavor…etc. Work with fryer operators and leads to ensure finished product meets company and customer standards
• Check FFAs of frying oils; notify fryer operators of results so corrective actions can be taken as needed
• Check net weights, coding and packaging integrity of finished product (this will be a confirmation of checks done by machine operators) to ensure compliance with company and customer standards and regulatory requirements
• Check oxygen content of finished product bags
• Verify metal detector performance (since this is a 2-person job, it should be the responsibility of the lead to make sure the metal detectors are checked on schedule, the QA auditor can assist if needed, verify results and take actions in case of failure)
• Verify and document conformance of GMP’s
• Inspect lines at start-up and during changeovers, utilize test swabs as needed to ensure adequacy of cleaning per company standards to minimize the risk of mixed product
• Identify out-of-spec product with QC Hold tags, fill out required paperwork, and ensure product is segregated so it does not get shipped. Collect samples of questionable product, evaluate and summarize results
• Collect raw material, in process, and finished product samples using approved methods
• Test raw materials, in process and finished product per established procedures and specifications and document results
• Monitor production activities to ensure all food safety and quality standards are being achieved
• Communicate test results to appropriate staff
• Assist operators and leads as needed
